IDC does not stand for I don't care! On the contrary,
IDC stands for the values and the topics I Do Care about as a professional consultant: International Development Cooperation Programs and Instructional Design for professionals working in development agencies or engaged in complex change processes.
Sustainable development and the Sustainable Development Goals as an overall orientation and framework for states, organizations, communities and also for me as an individual. As an individual and as a professional I do also care about the principle of partner orientation in the design and management of development cooperation projects. And as a professional consultant I want to meet the capacity development priorities and goals of my clients and contribute to practice-oriented solutions that meet stakeholders‘ needs and expectations!

The countries nowadays called the global South and the challenges of intercultural cooperation have fascinated me since my first encounter with an entirely different political, economic, social and cultural situation conducting empirical research in India in the late 80s. I chose International Development Cooperation as a career path and have worked as a project manager and a consultant for roughly 30 years. And the fascination for the complexity of managing change processes in an intercultural cooperation context has remained ever since.

Training has become my area of expertise more or less accidentally. In my first long-term project management assignment abroad, it was part of my assignment to facilitate the design process and the delivery of a number of training curricula for civil servants. The opportunity to unleash my creativity in the design process, as well as the rewarding experiences that the direct encounter with adult learners in a classroom training offer encouraged me gather additional expertise in that area. Over the last 15 years I have spent several years in classrooms facilitating adult training. And since the pandemic I have conducted a substantial number of virtual training events and have learned to appreciate the possibilities that virtual trainings offer.
